Welcome to my newsletter!
Hello, and welcome. You are receiving this newsletter because you indicated an interest, in some way, in this new venture of mine. Over the next several weeks, I'll send out updates to help you decide if this is a valuable resource for you or if you'd like to unsubscribe.
1. Why this newsletter?
What is this new venture? The goal of The Care and Feeding of Creativity is to help people find ways to incorporate creativity into their daily lives. The newsletter will present actionable steps you can take, ways to adjust your thinking to move from a fixed to a growth mindset, and other information that may be fun, humorous, or simply interesting.
2. Who is it for?
You may have aspirations for a career in a creative field or want to find ways to sprinkle tasty, creative chocolate chips throughout your days. My intention is that the information shared in this newsletter will be helpful to you, whatever your creative ambitions may be.
3. Who am I?
I am Machelle, with an a. I'm a writer with a background in mental health care and business management, but probably much more relevant; I'm a writer returning from exile.
You see, due to various circumstances, I had to put my creative life aside for several years. Thankfully, my muse never left me. Whether I was powering through sleep-deprived days as the mother of an infant, navigating single-parenthood while working on my mental health, or juggling the responsibilities of running a business with home, family, and self-care, that desire to create never left me.
It felt like exile as, time and again, I put aside creative drive for a few more hours of sleep, staying up with a sick or anxious child, or even just slowing down for a bit to think without distractions.
Thankfully, I found small ways to keep my creative spark going. While I worked on other aspects of my mental health, I was also working on my mindset as a writer. Imposter syndrome reared its head, plunging me further into a sense of exile. Perfectionism grabbed at me, pulling me down paths that led to nowhere. Fear kept me locked in a tower where I could see my creative ambitions clearly, but what I needed to move toward them was always out of my reach.
4. Now what?
Now that I have returned from this creative exile, I want to help others free themselves as well. In subsequent emails, I will talk more about how you can do that.
Meanwhile, if you subscribe to the newsletter, you will have immediate access to a resource I've created called 4 Tips to Overcome Creative Imposter Syndrome. Just fill in your email below. You will get a welcome email with a link that will take you directly to the resource.
5. Thank you
